UnitsI thought a bit before deciding to use "traditional" units instead of metric for most of this web site. The sad fact is that most of us educated in the United States are more familiar with feet, pounds etc., than we are with metres, grams, and other metric units, and I wanted to make this as nearly comprehensible as I could. I did slip in one metric unit - the Kilowatt. Kilowatts are the same type of unit as horsepower, but it would be kind of silly to talk about car engines in terms of hp when they're generating kW. The conversion is: 1 hp = 0.745699872 kiloWatts 1 kiloWatt = 1.34102209 hp Thus saith Google in response to 1hp=?Kw and 1KW=?hp |
