Are there other ways to achieve fusion?

The fusion "breakthrough" I've written about was achieved using the technique of inertial confinement. There are other ways to achieve fusion without being a star in the heavens. For example, the Tokamak is a device which uses magnetism instead of lasers to induce fusion. They're building a big one in France.

Q: Is the Tokamak late and over budget?
A: Of course.

Q: What about elements and isotopes other than hydrogen?
A: Helium 3 has promise. It's found on the surface of the moon.

Q: What about cold fusion?
A: Don't get me started!

Fusion Guy doesn't look very happy!

I was at the CES show in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. There was an exhibit by a company that hopes to commercialize nuclear fusion. I asked the booth attendant a few questions and it became apparent he had no technical knowledge.

They were there trying to raise money. He admitted to being a lawyer.

So, then, are we doomed to climate death by Carbon Dioxide?

Hell no! We know how to make uranium fission reactors. The country France derives, or used to derive, about 69 per cent of her energy from nuclear reactors. And we don't have to go to the moon for uranium. It's all engineering at this point
